Homeschool Mom on Strike! Part 2

Note:  Just in case anyone wonders, I have Little Mister's blessing about sharing yesterday and today about our struggles and what we have learned.  I have no desire to embarrass or humiliate him, so he's fine with the small amount of detail I've disclosed about his part in the situation.

So, anyway, for those who are interested, I didn't want to leave you hanging about my "day off" yesterday.  And, by the way, thanks to those who left such lovely comments of positive feedback.  I'm not sure that's what I was expecting! lol

Was anything good accomplished by my "experiment?"

I would have to say, "Yes!"

I don't like being Mrs. Potato Head Without a Mouth.  Little Mister doesn't like me being Mrs. Potato Head Without a Mouth as much as he thought he might.

We had a lot to talk about over dinner (just the two of us, as Kevin was at work).  We worked through our differences, re-established just who (and Who!) is in charge, discussed what we should and shouldn't dwell on in our minds and told each other a few knock-knock jokes. ;)

And today, after our usual time of prayer before school, he asked, "Is it okay if we pray before each subject in school?  I think that will help me remember to focus."

Is it okay??!!??

"Yes, honey.  I think that's a great idea.  I wish I had thought of that . . . a long time ago!"

He's changing.  His heart is changing.  Slowly.  V-e-r-y slowly at times it seems.

Just like his mom.

Being a mom has helped me see, to an extent, how God must see me!  I just wish I would consistently choose to be as patient with Little Mister as God is with me.

  1. I just read both posts, somehow I missed the one from yesterday. Good job! He is a sweet boy with a big heart.

  2. Thank you for the "rest of the story." Great job - and God will bless both of you mightily through your journey...but it is fun to watch from the sidelines and know that God also blesses others - me included - as we watch. Thank you for sharing.

  3. Way to have some serious good follow through and the ability to show him how much you still love him. I learn so much about working with kids, love and heart when I read your posts. Thank you!
